If you find yourself with the concerns of the world battering at your mind, get out of bed. Your bed should be for rest and sleep, so do not allow it to become your worry workstation. If you don’t take care of yourself, you certainly can’t effectively take care of others in your care. Office managers, school principals, nurse administrators, CEOs, and small business owners need TLC, but are usually the ones giving it rather than being on the receiving end. Any small business owner is going to face this at some point in her career, and even freelancers may reach a point where they wonder what they were thinking getting into the do-it-yourself gig. The good news is these moments of anxiety are only temporary.

Know what you want
You must know yourself, your dreams, and your passions. If asked to chair another group or take on another responsibility, look at your mission statement or goals for the day. I encourage finding things to do to make yourself happy that aren’t necessarily short lived and for instant gratification, but longer lasting. As you say, a vacation is a wonderful way to unwind. Please, do not let yourself become so. Do not be a workaholic.

Take some time out for yourself
Turn off your phone, plug in the tree lights, pour yourself eggnog and turn on a Christmas movie. We all need a little time to ourselves to appreciate what this time of year is all about. And don’t forget taking time to relax by yourself or with friends. Get yourself a babysitter and enjoy some kid free time! Find out how stress affects us and what you can do to reduce stress for both yourself and your family. Learn how some stress management tips, stress reliever games, and stress relieving exercises can help improve your stress management skills and help you cope with stress.

“Read more about the Stress Management Techniques here”

Meditation is a very effective method of relaxation. To meditate, quiet your mind and allow yourself to focus on one thing, such as your breath. While you are breathing out breathe out all of your stress. Removing yourself from a stressful situation, even for a brief moment, will help you breathe more easily and give you a fresh perspective. One example: If you are consistently late for the morning meeting, ask yourself why.
